Communications Committee
- Mishpachah Matters is the congregation's award-winning monthly print newsletter. It is sent by first-class mail to all congregation members and by third-class mail to non-member contributors and (for a three-month trial period) to those who request to be placed on the congregation's mailing list. Copies also may be picked up at any Bet Mishpachah service. Mishpachah Matters contains news articles, a monthly calendar, the "Day by Day" listing of upcoming events, two "From the desk of the Rabbi" columns and listings of members' birthdays, anniversaries and joyous events. Paid advertising also is available. For information about advertising, email advertise@betmishpachah.org.
- @CBM is Bet Mishpachah's electronic newsletter. An e-mail account is needed for a subscription. On page 2 of each issue of Mishpachah Matters are instructions on how to subscribe. @CBM provides updates of late-breaking congregational news events, as well as occasional descriptions of events in the Jewish and/or GLBT communities that cannot be printed in Mishpachah Matters because of timing, space, or format limitations.
- The World Wide Web site you are currently visiting. The site contains general
information about Bet Mishpachah, profiles of the congregation’s
committees, a current calendar,
descriptions of upcoming events,
membership and sign-up forms,
an archive of selected past sermons, and
links to other Web sites of interest. It also provides
links for e-mailing the rabbis, administrator, Secretary
(for calendar items), newsletter editor, @CBM editor, Webweaver, communications chair, and
advertising coordinator.
The Communications Committee is always seeking volunteers with skills in writing, editing and/or Web page design. If you have a computer and an e-mail account, you can help Bet Mishpachah without ever leaving the comfort of your home! For further information, contact communications@betmishpachah.org.
- PUBLIC RELATIONS. Now part of the Communications Committee, the Public Relations Committee promotes the congregation, in general, as an important community institution and also seeks publicity for specific synagogue events as well, by developing ongoing relationships with GLBT media and the media at large. To promote an event or to get involved, please contact pr@betmishpachah.org.
