Rabbi Laurie Green leads a class concerning artistic renderings of the binding of Isaac.

From Bob Dylan to Yehudah Amichai (the National Poet of Israel), from Rembrandt to Chagall, artists of all kinds have been interpreting this most troubling tale of Abraham almost killing his son at God's command. We'll study poetry and paintings through the ages. Why does this dreadful tale have such staying power? What does it teach us about Jewish and Christian history and culture?  What does it teach us about Rosh Hashana?  Come prepare for the Jewish New Year with art, poetry, and bagels. You may never read this famous tale the same way again!
