Liturgy Committee
The Liturgy Committee develops worship services for use by Bet Mishpachah. Liturgy is developed through a process of research, study and discussion. Our liturgy includes occasional, appropriate changes to traditional Hebrew prayers; new English translations, ranging from relatively literal to quite interpretive; new supplemental English readings; and new songs.
Some pieces come directly from other sources, but most often pieces are adapted by the Liturgy Committee to reflect Bet Mishpachah’s practices and philosophy/theology, including egalitarianism, inclusiveness and diversity. Current projects include finalizing our High Holy Days machzor and a
second edition of Shavat va-Yinafash, our siddur for Shabbat.
